Play Doh-Mation

A few night ago, we were watching TV and there was a show about a Geie and some cats and the characters were made of clay. My daddy asked me if I wanted to learn how to make clay characters move. It is something called Claymation. I said of course.

The next day we went and bought some fresh Play Doh and got started. Here is a video I made of my first Play Doh-Mation. I did most of the steps all by myself. I am getting really good at cropping photos.  I also learned how much time it takes to make even a short movie. Next time we will try and make a movie with characters.

  1. Amazing!
The discussion on the PROCESS is what drew my attention (after your completely adorable girl's face and voice <3). Basically, this is a metacognition moment and I think we should use it more often with students, as well.
    You're a great dad and educator. :)

  2. Dear Kaia,

I loved hearing how you and your Daddy made the movie. It is really amazing how long it takes to make a stop-motion movie, isn't it? I enjoyed watching and can't wait to see your next one!

  3. Kaia,

You did such a great job. I sounds like you did a lot of work to make the movie. I enjoyed listening to you and your daddy explain the process and all the steps you had to do. I am very proud of you.

    Kaia,
You are AMAZING! I can't wait to see what you are going to make next, maybe a picture, or a movie, or a song. I just love waiting to see what you and your Dad will come up with next. What do you think it will be?

    Kaia,

Claymation is one of my favorite things ever! As a kid Gumby was my favorite TV show to watch and I always wondered how they did it. Now that I watched your video I feel like I could (and should!) try to make a stop-motion video on my own. Thank you for sharing with us how you and your Dad made the video. It was very helpful!

  7. Kaia, when I started watching the video my youngest daughter Quinci heard your voice and came over to watch. She wanted to know who you are. After she watched the video she told me she thought it was funny because your dad told you what to say. She really enjoyed watching you.

I loved how you explained how you created your video. How did you decide to use your name for it?

I think I will make a video of Quinci so you can meet her like she met you.
